Guys, a science fiction grand master who isn't a dick and who keeps up on science despite being ninety years old. Also, his blog is full of awesome stories about the founding in science fiction fandom. This makes me happy.

In other news! I was contemplating the whole Groundhog's Day loop idea earlier today, where someone lives the same day over and over, and I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't mind as long as the repeating time loop happened when I was within a daytrip of lots of libraries and bookstores. I mean, talk about an opportunity for reading. I could have whatever emotional climax needed to get me out of it after I finished reading every book I wanted to within range.

I am so with you on a Groundhog's Day scenario being the ultimate learning opportunity. It's a major plus that I live in a university town, too; just about anything I wanna know, right here :)

Mind, I'd probably take the opportunity to troll the internet a couple of times as well, time myself for how fast I can get onto f_w, but really, who would be able to resist that opportunity?

Yes, exactly! And I'd create at least three sock puppet accounts (no relation to my journal name) to keep things "authentic". And imagine the ETA when they figured out what was going on...

ETA N: Sock puppet accounts A, B, and C have been found to belong to original wanker Socchan, who has just played the "social experiment" card, because, and I cannot make this up, she is "[link to original post]experiencing some sort of Groundhog's Day like phenomenon[/link]" and needed some 'fresh entertainment'.

ETA N+1: Socchan has just [link]flounced[/link], announcing that none of this will matter anyway when she wakes up, as time will have reset itself and history will be wiped clean, leaving the joke on us. Commenters make references to doing or remembering things/having proof "tomorrow", to which she has so far not responded.

Possibly followed by another few ETAs, in which I unflounce to yell at people, link "mathematical reasons it could totally be happening!!1!", et cetera. (Also, this would probably all be funnier if done by a more experienced wanka.)

You know, as someone who lives next to the city and a awesome library/fine dining, I would be completely down with this idea. NO FATE, I'M NOT DONE READING YET.
