That makes a lot of sense to me. My mother was a very anti-organized-religion ex-Mormon, and one of the lessons I learned from that is that the religion you were raised with as a kid continues to bother you even after you've left it. Considering Catholic's association with guilt, it doesn't really surprise me that talk of how to be a good Christian brings up the old guilt trips.
